Wedding Day at Lost Mission
Lost Mission is a gorgeous venue, pulling up I was so excited by the trees and architecture on the property. The day started with a light drizzle, unforeseen in the forecast for the wedding day. As the wedding party arrived to the venue and began getting ready, the weather shifted to an overcast making for some beautiful lighting for our first hour on-site.
Sarah and Sam prioritized having lot of time to capture all of the elements of their day. We were able to spend the first hour capturing the property and all the wedding details before jumping into getting ready. Prior to wedding day we chatted about the importance of photos to them, so it felt like an honor to be chosen to capture this day for them!
Sam prepared a surprise gift for Sarah full of some favorite items and a teddy bear. This made for such a special moment before they finished getting into their wedding attire. Sarah had also ordered a patch to iron onto a tie for her dad as a gift to give him during their first look together. The Texas heat started to rise going into the afternoon and we were able to utilize the pockets of light for their portraits and first look together. The area behind the mission had a water feature and a rock-path and we waited as Sarah made her way to greet Sam for the first time. Playing Shane Smith in the background of this moment, the couple shared an intimate few minutes, just embracing and hanging out in each other’s company.
The chapel’s walls are lined with beautiful windows leaking light into the dark wood interior with warm chandeliers lit overhead. Their guests began gathering in for the ceremony. The ceremony was officiated by Pastor JC Alonzo with Texas Wedding Ministries.
After the ceremony, we head down to the lower part of the property where there is a beautiful patio with string lights hanging above. The guests got to enjoy cocktail hour with a mariachi band and beer burros! The sun started to come out and bring the nice Texas heat with it.
To kick off the reception the couple entered and started with their first dance. Following the dinner, their maid of honor and best man gave such heartfelt speeches. As the afternoon progressed it was so fun to capture the candid moments of Sarah and Sam spending time with their closest friends and family who had come in from around the country to celebrate with them. Sarah’s sister even made hot sauce for the guest favors! The afternoon reception was full of hugs, tequila shots, and dancing.
Sarah and Sam decided to add on a Super 8 highlight film to capture moments from their day as well as additional 35mm film photos for a nostalgic feel.
