In 2022, I hopped on a Zoom call with Kate and Jeffrey and we chatted about their vision for a wintery wedding and had bonded over adventures and traveling. The two have had a super adventurous relationship – bonded by exploring the outdoors.
The two chose Vail for their wedding and got in some snowboarding to kick off wedding week. The day started with getting ready at their Airbnb’s in the Vail area. Their venue – the Donovan Pavilion is in West Vail and is owned by the town. It’s the perfect spot for a wintery Colorado wedding as it’s super close to the slopes and has tons of scenery right outside.
We had planned for a first look at the top of the gondola in Vail, but the spring snow came in and we got nine inches overnight!! We shifted some plans around to accommodate and kept the timeline laid back and fun with tons of moments for the two to enjoy wedding day with each other.
Kate had a first look with her dad and with Jeffrey at the venue. The couple then walked down by the river and exchanged private vows.
We got in some snowy portraits while the sun was out before ceremony.
The couple welcomed guests over hot chocolate and toddy’s. The weather was chilly but so perfect for an outdoor winter ceremony on the Donovan’s back patio area where guests gathered in for the afternoon.
Kate and Jeffrey’s close friend officiated the ceremony. After the ceremony, guests headed indoors to kick off cocktail hour and reception! The couple choose baby’s breath and candles to center each table. Kate hand stamped the table menus and crafted a ton of their wedding decor pieces. They chose a gold, dark green, and black color palette which complemented the gorgeous indoor space at the Donovan.
The rest of the afternoon was full of cheers, mingling and celebrating the couple’s newest adventure together.
